Account and profile basics

Set up the identity details customers see across your storefront and offers.

Your profile is the trust layer of your storefront. It tells visitors they are in the right place before they decide whether to buy, book or subscribe.

Create your account

You can start Mercato by creating an email and password account or by using Google sign-in where available.

If you create an email and password account, use:

  • An email address you control.
  • A password with at least 10 characters.
  • A name customers will recognize.

If a security check appears during sign-up, complete it before continuing.

Reserve your username

Your username becomes part of your public storefront URL, such as mercato.so/yourname.

Choose a username that is:

  • Close to your creator name, brand name or social handle.
  • Easy to read out loud.
  • Short enough to fit in bios and captions.
  • Free of unnecessary punctuation.

If the exact handle is taken, add a simple modifier. For example, use yournamehq, yournamestudio or learnwithyourname instead of a string of numbers.

Choose your display name

Use the name your audience already trusts.

Good choices:

  • Your personal creator name if you sell through your reputation.
  • Your brand name if customers know the business more than you personally.
  • A clear creator-business hybrid, such as "Maya Rivers Studio".

Avoid changing the display name too often after launch. Repeat visitors should know they reached the right page.

Add a profile image

Use an image that works at small sizes. A storefront visitor may only see it as a small avatar near your bio.

Strong options:

  • A bright headshot with your face visible.
  • A simple logo or creator mark.
  • A product-related image only if it is already recognizable.

Avoid detailed screenshots, tiny text or busy graphics.

Write a useful bio

Your bio should explain who you help and what they can do on the page.

Use this simple structure:

I help audience get outcome with products, courses, coaching or resources.

Examples:

  • "Templates and coaching for freelance designers building cleaner client systems."
  • "Courses and resources for creators launching their first digital product."
  • "Strategy calls and playbooks for fitness coaches growing online revenue."

Keep the first sentence direct. You can add personality elsewhere, but clarity should win at the top of the page.

Set the storefront tagline

Your storefront tagline can be more specific than your account bio. Use it to explain the current page focus.

Examples:

  • "Start here if you want to package your first paid template."
  • "Book a strategy call or download the client onboarding kit."
  • "Free resources, paid playbooks and coaching for creator launches."

If you are launching one main offer, make the tagline point toward that offer.

Mercato supports many social platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, Spotify, Website, Email, Threads, LinkedIn, Facebook, Patreon, Twitch, Discord, Substack, Pinterest, GitHub, WhatsApp, Snapchat, Bluesky, Telegram, Apple Music, SoundCloud and Bandcamp.

Only add links that help a visitor trust you or continue the journey. Too many links can distract from checkout.

Keep account security simple

Use one owner-controlled email address for your account. Do not share your login with collaborators unless Mercato supports the permission model you need.

Be careful with exported audience files, customer details and calendar data. Treat your dashboard as business software, not a public workspace.

Update profile details before launches

Before a campaign, check:

  • Username and display name.
  • Avatar.
  • Bio and tagline.
  • Social links.
  • Public storefront preview.
  • Billing and payout status.

Small profile mistakes can create avoidable doubt. Fix them before people arrive.
